Ideas are nothing without execution. The oldest tagline I’ve heard since I was a kid

And I can confirm.

The more time I spend building, the more obvious it becomes - we don’t really talk about the tough stuff. We celebrate the wins, post the success stories, maybe even humblebrag a little. But we go quiet on the failures. The pivots. The dead ends.

I remember a conversation I had a few years ago.

I was working on a startup around restaurant reservations. Nothing fancy, just something simple, useful, something I wanted to try building. I was excited about it, trying to figure out how to get the first users, juggling product tweaks and late-night bug fixes.

I mentioned it to someone over coffee. And they said,
“Oh, I had that idea too!”

Cool. Maybe you even talked about it with a friend. But did you stay up until 2 AM tweaking the UI? Did you pitch it to strangers? Did you feel that sinking feeling when the signups didn’t come?

That moment stuck with me. Because it wasn’t the first time I’d heard it, and it wouldn’t be the last.

Humans are incredible. We’re full of creativity, passion, ideas. We talk about solving problems, about “what if” and “someday.” But not everyone makes the leap from thought to action. Most stay in the safe zone - the idea stage.

I get it, because I’ve been there too, many times. Ideas don’t get rejected, they don’t fail, you have this perfect image in your head of what success will look like and how easy you’ll get there.

But actually building something is a completely different experience - it’s slow, lonely, you doubt yourself, you make tweaks all the time.

VAUNT is not my first startup, but it’s the one I’ve poured the most into. I’ve learned that it didn’t matter if we were the first ones to think about this sales tool for real estate developers, but about making it a good one that sticks. We show up every day, we learn from feedback, we keep building day after day. Everything we put out is based on clients’ needs, we try to solve a problem and we are ready to play the long-term game. We love the process, and not just the idea.

It’s not easy, but there are things that make it awesome - a good team, your clients telling you what you do helps them, and some public recognition now and then.

There’s a massive gap between “I have an idea” and “I built this” and crossing it changes you. Start with the idea, but don’t stop there. Start building, because that’s what will make all the difference.

“To me, ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions.”- Steve Jobs

What is stopping you from taking action at this moment? What do you think is your current bottleneck to taking action? I’d love to know!
